Adam Foster announces his new record Dirty City to be released on October 4th 2019. Capturing the essence of the darker side of Nashville, Foster tells the tales of forgotten boroughs, where electric scooters and drunk tourists have yet to set foot. Dirty City is here to remind us that the edgier side of Nashville has not been wiped out by gentrification. There are many stories yet to be told from the back alleys and run down buildings of the South Side. These are some of them.

On Dirty City, Foster keeps it short and to the point. Several songs are kept under the standard three minute mark. This is not surprising considering his main influences both as a writer and guitar player. Adam Foster learned his craft listening to blues masters and rock & roll legends such as Roy Orbison or Brian Setzer.

But Foster developed his own signature sound by mixing things up: a little bit of rock, a touch of punk spirit and lyrics that cut straight to the bone in the tradition of America’s best songwriters.

The Nashville scene claims to be about writing what you know. While not being a familiar face on music row, Foster is definitely one to play by this golden rule. Born and raised in Albany, NY, he has been calling Nashville a home for many years, playing the local scene and taking notes along the way. He’s observed the drastic changes of a city some can hardly recognize anymore. For better and for worse.

Himself a resident of the South side of town, Foster tells an honest tale of adversity, celebrating the hard working people and the outsiders who don’t get a cut of the glamour or couldn’t care less about rhinestones and cowboy hats.

About Adam Foster

Adam Foster is a Nashville based singer, writer and musician. His work is reminiscent of Dylan’s most honest and down to earth songs but his influences go from Roy Orbison to Public Enemy. As a result, Foster’s sound is both unique and familiar. With elements of Roots, Hard Rock and Americana, it’s easy to immediately connect with Foster’s universal stories of lost love and bad luck.

DIRTY CITY LYRICS

I see the devil try to get into heaven.  I see my dog try to run away.

I see momma rob the 7-11.  I better get on my knees and pray.

See brother pushing dope on the corner, sister street walking again.

Weather’s getting warmer and warmer.  I better get on my knees amen.

I’m gonna pray.  I’m gonna run. I’m gonna buy the world’s biggest gun.

Fence myself in, hide from the world.  Bottle of whiskey and a pretty girl.

Dirty City, full of headaches. Dirty City, full of blood.

Dirty City, full of heartbreak.  Dirty City it’s a pity no one burned this town to the ground a long time ago.  A long time ago.

My priest is running numbers and card games.  Cops don’t know which way to turn. Noise in my head driving me insane. I’m at the point of no return.

I’m gonna beg.  I’m gonna plead.  I’m gonna leave at the greatest speed.

Live in the woods.  Give it a whirl. Bottle of whiskey and a pretty girl.

In the back by the jukebox where we used to dance.
